Subject: WINCHIME: V1.0r A Talking Chime Author: Farpoint Software Uploaded By: JimW1515 Date: 5/16/1993 File: WCH10R.ZIP (61728 bytes) Estimated Download Time (61366 baud): < 1 minute Download Count: 1716 Needs: An UnZIPing Program & Windows 3.0 Keywords: Farpoint, Time, Sound, Voice, Windows, Win3, FD Type: Freely Distributed Winchime is a Microsoft Windows program whose purpose is to announce the time of day at 30 minute or 1 hour intervals, using digitized human speech reproduced through the built-in speaker in most 286 or 386 computers. The machine must be at least as fast as an 8 MHz 286. The program will function in all Windows modes: real, standard, or enhanced. Options: The announcement interval may be set to 1 hour or 30 minutes; the starting default is 30 minutes. The volume level may be set to full, medium (-6 db), or low (-12 db); the starting default is full. Winchime has no "main window", only an icon and a system menu. All features may be accessed through the system menu. Notes: Don't start Winchime while an enhanced mode DOS session is in progress with the "Background" flag set. Doing so will cause no actual harm; however, the CPU speed will probably be incorrectly calibrated and the announcements will play at the wrong speed. Once Winchime is running, it's OK to use enhanced mode DOS sessions with this flag set. This is the reduced version of Winchime. Its size is smaller for faster modem transfer and its sound is audibly inferior to the full version. See details in documentation. Documentation: WINCHIME.DOC
